How To Detail Strip An M1 Garand Trigger Group

Detail stripping the M1's trigger group concludes with the removal of the Trigger Guard.

In order to remove the Trigger Guard simply grab it and firmly pull it rearward about 1.25 inches.

Rotate the Trigger Guard towards the right side of the trigger housing about 1/4 turn and it will pop free.

That's all there is to it! Once you have the group apart lay out all of the parts and give them a thorough cleaning and re-lubricating before you reassemble them. Do not oil the hammer or sear where they come together for safety reasons.
