The extractor spring and plunger fit into the right side of the bolt in the hole shown below. We don't generally pull the spring and plunger apart we just simply drop the entire unit into this hole.

It is important that the plunger portion of this mini-assembly protrude from the hole so the spring end must be placed in the hole first.

When this step is complete the bolt will look like the photograph above.

Now it is time to reassemble the ejector.
